liver & Gallbladder
The liver is the master of metabolism. It synthesizes many of the bodies proteins, is involved in digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, and detoxifies. The liver and gallbladder are interconnected by the biliary tract which drains into a segment of the small intestine. Most liver diseases initially present with very few symptoms. The liver is a resilient organ, able to function even when damaged and also to regenerate itself. This may explain why it’s believed that a great deal of liver disease remains undiagnosed in the population as a whole.
